Barbecue and Soul Food Eating
Eating, one of Americas greatest past times. Everyone looks forward to the weekends to hangout and eat with friends at their favorite places to eat. Around 12 p.m. across the country, millions of people go to many places to grab a bite to eat on their lunch breaks. Most people go to the usual places like McDonalds’, Burger King or Wendy’s for a quick on the go bite, depending on how long their lunch break is, while others are looking for that homestyle cooked meal.
I’m from a small town called Monroe in Louisiana, and we don’t have a lot of homecooked places here, especially barbecue places. We have three barbecue places here to choose from, Danken Trail, Podnuhs and Shawnuff BBQ. That’s a very small number compared to the population of the city. We are also short on places that cook soul food. We only have one real soul food restaurant here and it’s called Big Mamas. We had another one called Granny’s, it was a buffet style restaurant, but it went out of business due to Covid 19. So, now people are looking for another place to get a good cooked meal.
Over the years I have seen places like these come and go, and these would be some of the best places to eat at. All I see now are these big franchise restaurants coming in with high prices and veery little food on your plate. This is the reason I love soul food places along with a good barbecue place. Nothing compares to a good homecooked meal. I will take a good plate of the works over a burger or chicken joint any day. This is why I go to Shawnuffs’ BBQ to grab myself a bite to eat. They have a choice of good barbecue and soul food that I am always looking for when I want to taste someone else cooking.
